作为雅思阅读的原文，是非常noteworthy的，在这句话中，首先我们要理解的一个单词是prolonged, 这个单词和long有一定的差别，long只是普通意义上的长，prolong则是悠久的，持续时间长的意思。因此，这句话可以翻译成：它们（动物的迁徙）是一种持续时间很长的运动行为，动物在迁徙中会离开自己所熟悉的栖息地。
