As is vividly shown in the cartoon, the sand is streaming away from the open hand. Opportunities, just like the sand, if not held properly, may possibly slide away from us. Therefore, we should always bear in mind, just as the caption says in the picture, that more than half of our opportunities are released by ourselves.
The author’s real purpose is to remind us that opportunities plays a vital role in helping us to achieve success. We should grasp every valuable opportunity and make good use of it, otherwise nothing can be left with us but regret and disappointment.
