Family has a great influence on children’s development. However, outside factorsplay a bigger part in their life. To what extent do you agree or disagree (agree
It is believed that external factors influence children’s development in a more significant way than parents. However, I would argue otherwise. Admittedly, social environment contributes to children’sdevelopment. When children receive education in school, teachers have a great effect on their thoughts and behaviors. For instance, a child maygrow interested in a certain subject such as drawing because of the instructions and guidance from teachers in class. Children may also be affected by what peers do. It is easy for children to develop similar interests or hobbies when they often hang out with friends in school. However, social influenceon a child's growth is limited when compared tofamilial influence.
Families have the most profound impact on nurturing a child, determining the ways in which they develop psychologically and socially. For starters, the socio-economic status of a family determines the quality of the opportunity a child gets. For instance, well-off familiescan offer better learning resources to help their children reach their full potential while children from poorer families have a higher incidence of dropout. For another, children’s formative years is mostly spent with parents. When families invest time, energy and love in children’s development through activities such as playing with them and reading to them, they often end up as individuals who have bettersocial skills and able to bond with other people as adults. In conclusion, children’s wellbeing is defined more by familial influence than by outside factors such as teachers and peers. Given this, parents would be well-advised to take on a critical role in bringing up their kids.
