Kaithal: SP Virender Vij handed over a cheque for Rs 30 lakh to the widow of a Head Constable, who lost his life in a mishap. SP Virender Vij said anyone can die in any accident and we cannot bring back the life of the deceased, but the widow of the cop can educate and bring up her two children and live with dignity with the amount of Rs 30 lakh received by her from HDFC Bank under a welfare scheme launched by the Police Department with an understanding with HDFC Bank. The victim had a son who studies in Class VII and a daughter in Class V. The elder brother of the deceased cop, his son and bank officials were present on the occasion. The deceased cop was present on a poultry farm in Karsindhu village with his acquaintance on May 4, when he died during a fire that broke out due to a short circuit.
Novel trends in agriculture
Hisar: Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University organised a conference on ‘New Millennia: Agriculture Novel Trends and Future Scenario”. VC Prof KP Singh was the chief guest, while Habinj Jack, Professor at the University of Technical and Biological Sciences, Poland, and Prof Doo-sun Kim of South Korea were present as the guest of honor. Scientists from more than 25 countries participated and presented their research papers. Prof Singh said for the advancement of agricultural sector, new dimensions such as nanotechnology-based monitoring, nano fertiliser, nano pasteurised, data mining, market-based agricultural production, market linkage, research on high-energy crops, agricultural products, emphasis on value-addition, new technology of food storage, modern techniques of dissemination of agricultural knowledge and importance of integrated farming system etc. were needed for agricultural advancement.
Students pitch in ideas during IDEATHON 1.0Faridabad: To encourage students to convert their innovative ideas into reality, JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, organised an idea-pitching event — IDEATHON 1.0. It was held for students to unleash their imagination potential. As many as 56 students pitched their ideas during the event in varied themes such as internet of things, cyber security, healthcare, entertainment, general and smart agriculture. Students were rewarded with cash prizes at a function organised on the conclusion of the event. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dinesh Kumar, experts from the industry, including Rashim Kapoor, Hemant Kohli and Mukesh Kumar, were among others who attended it.
