今天的题目如果同意停止看新闻的话，那么就可以说看新闻的这个时间可以更好的用来干什么，但注意看新闻的时间可能都是碎片时间，能做的事情也必然是碎片的事情。如果认为不应该停止的话，那么就可以聊聊看新闻的好处，看似新闻跟我们的生活很远，但是对我们的生活还是有很多影响的。

The invention of internet succeeds in bringing millions of pieces of news a day to people and now people are appalled at how much news they are receiving every day. Compared with the past when following all the news wouldn’t cost too much time, since the media were not as developed, people now feel too overwhelmed and would like to see it stop for a while, so some experts propose to stop reading news for a period to make people less anxious about following news and give them a chance to enjoy life.However, from my perspective, it is actually more beneficial if people could continue to read news.

To begin with, stopping reading news for a while could make people lose interest in getting to know the things around them.It is known that news is usually presented in the newspaper in the form of stories and missing the beginning of the story would rob people of their interest in the ending of the story. For example, during the time of the World Cup, people would love to followthe games from the beginning to the end, which offers them a lot of fun. However, missing several games usually means that people have no idea now which team is playing against which team and how is the performance of the winning teams in the previous games, which may potentially make people lose their curiosity of knowing more about the World Cup, since the games following may not provide as much fun as before when they follow all the games. The result is likely to be that they would miss the World Cup.
Moreover, knowing the news around can help people make a proper travel plan.When people want to travel to other places, especially to foreign countries, for fun or on business, they need to have enough information of the destination in order to make a reasonable plan. For example, a family may plan to spend their annual vacation in a mid-east country to enjoy the exotic sceneries and food. Without reading the news about the wars and complexed situations in Syria, the family may make the wrong decision to travel to this country and may make themselves the victims of abloody war.However, some may argue that people will only stop reading the news for a while, which won’t make much difference in this situation.But the case is that people can hardly know which piece of news is more useful and which one is not. So only by watching news constantly could ensure that they could access all the useful information for them.
Furthermore, reading news could also help people build friendship.It is usually the case that people know each other better through talking and chatting and it is also chatting that normally could help to strengthen the relationship between people. Thus, as one of the common topics among people, news plays a very critical role in maintaining the relationship. For example, when the stock market is not doing well, people may complain about the economic condition together; when there’s some interesting gossip of those super stars, people may also get together and provide their own comments. However, if a person stops reading any news, he/she would be lost when his/her friends are enthusiastically talking about those topics. Gradually, his/her friends may lose interest in talking with him/her, since they believe they don’t share much in common with him/her and thus it is hard to maintain the friendship in this situation.
Since stopping reading news may make people lose interest in news altogether, may hinder people from making a proper travel plan and may estrange them from their friends, it is surely much better to keep reading news.
