对于美国中学的申请来说，SSAT是证明学生学习能力的综合性考试，包括词汇、数学、阅读、写作等。写作考试不算分，但会和成绩一起寄送到申请的学校。所以，自己写出来的，就要为自己好好负责。

写作
SSAT写作虽然不算分，但是因为文章会递送给学校，学校会从作文中，判断学生的英语写作程度，所以也一定要。每周要至少写一篇作文，让老师进行批改和完善，保持自己对文章结构的熟练度。同时，多积累写作常用的素材，把自己感兴趣的话题的英文表达积累下来。
Toy Story
Ryan A. Using creativity to solve difficult problems has always been such a familiar theme in our society, that it is often worked into the plots of various novels and films. One example of this is in the recent film Toy Story 3. Woody has to rescue Buzz and all his friends from a daycare center, where they are held against their will by Lotso-Huggin Bear, whose purple, plush exterior and southern drawl hide a far more sinister disposition. Woody concocts an elaborate escape plan, which involves using different toys as diversions to distract Lotsos guards. Through his creative thinking, Woody is able to break everyone out of the daycare center and return to his owner.
Iron Man
The notion that imaginative figures are needed in society is depicted in the recent film “Iron Man”. Tony Stark, after being held captive by terrorists, decides to eschew his former life of inventing weapons of destruction, donning a near-indestructible suit of armor and becoming the hero Iron Man. Although he faces resentment from a majority of society, Stark continues to express his originality by protecting people from terrorists, sacrificing his personal life and himself. Stark realized that his weapons weren’t benefiting the world as much as he thought they could, and in knowing so, he decides to use his creative intellect for the greater good and become a masked hero. Through his self-sacrifice, Tony Stark proves to society that the good shall succeed and that creativity is needed in the world. Even if the people do not know Iron Man’s significance in the world, he continues to stand as a creative individual.
Apple
Another compelling illustration of the importance of creativity in our world today is the success of the technological company Apple, Inc. and its founder, Steve Jobs. Jobs founded the company in the late 1970s, and it has transformed over the last forty years into one of the largest and most successful electronics and technology production companies in the world. Apple, Inc. has created products such as the iPhone, iPod, and Macbook which serve a purpose in education, entertainment, and business. These products are unlike any other in the world of modern technology because they have features beyond that of past computers. Apple’s products are so advanced that other brands can barely compete with their exceptional ideas. Without the creative minds fueling Apple’s production, the company might have failed decades ago and the technology of the present world would be drastically different.

词汇
SSAT的Verbal部分是很难也是比较简单的一项。因为单词难，所以是很难的一项。对于想要冲击高分的同学，就要克服自己心理的不情愿，耐心背单词。同时，要注意多刷题目，熟悉掌握词汇题命题的思路，这样可以较大限度的减少生词对于答题的干扰。同学们可以做一个生词表，来记录生词的复习情况。

阅读
阅读部分是SSAT拿分的重要项目。阅读部分会考察说明文、议论文、文学、小说、诗歌等话题。考试前，说明文、议论文要注意精读，把握文章结构；文学作品要注意理解情节、人物、修辞手法等；诗歌部分，要注意复习诗歌中常见的文字变体、情感、诗歌类型等。以下是诗歌中常见的文字变体，同学们可以参考。
