雅思考试之容易混淆词汇 雅思备考
雅思考试对于考生的词汇量有一定的要求，里面相似或者相近的词汇很多，今天小编就对雅思容易混淆的词汇做了总结，下面请大家跟随小编一起来看看雅思考试易混淆的词汇吧。
（1）ensure/insure
表示“保证”的意思，两者通用，英国人爱用ensure，美国人爱用insure。
Our precautions ensured/insured our safety。
预防措施保证了我们的安全。
表示“保险”的意思，用insure。
After signing a contract with a professional baseball team，Jack decided to insure his pitching arm for$1 million。
和职业棒球队签约后，杰克决定为他投球的手臂投保100万美元。
（2）historic/historical
historic：历史上著名的，具有历史意义的。强调的是事件本身具有的重大意义。
historic sites历史遗迹
historical：历史上的，有关历史的。强调某个事件曾经的的确确发生过。
historical figures历史人物
（3）lie/lay
lie：说谎;躺，位于。
——译为“说谎”时
过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：lied，lied，lying
——译为“躺，位于”时
过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：lay，lain，lying
He lay under a tree to sleep。
他躺在树下休息。
lay：放，搁;下蛋。过去式，过去分词，现在分词分别是：laid，laid，laying
The dog laid its ears back。
小狗把耳朵耷拉下来。
（4）relation/relationship
relation有以下几个意思
——指宽泛意义上的“关系”时，relation和relationship同义。
the relation/relationship between smoking and heart disease
吸烟和心脏病之间的关系
——亲戚。同义词：relative。
She was a distant relation of my wife。
她是我老婆的远房亲戚。
