To begin with,the reform and opening-up policy in China has led to rapid economic growth, which has given rise to a higher standard of living.Nowadays, people have more time to read books.Reading can increase our contentment when we are cheerful and happy, and can lessen our pain when we are sad and lonely.Furthermore,reading can also help people relax and unwind. All of us can savor a wide range of experiences through reading.However, while owning books is not enough, we should learn from the boy in the second picture to take actions.

To sum up,reading increases our knowledge and skills, broadens our horizon and widens our circle of friends.The fundamental way in which the government advocates the phenomenon is to raise the public awareness.
