Making presentations in schools is a good way to improve one’s speaking skills and leadership. Analysing one’s presentation record by oneself and discussing with other participants are both common measurements for obtaining feedbacks of one’s presentation. However, compared with the former, the latter measurement is arguably more optimal.
First, in comparison with analyzing one’s presentation record alone, without doubt, discussing with other participants about the presentation can provide the speaker more helpful opinions on the presentation. Specifically, a good presentation should have certain effects on audiences. However, one who chooses to watch one’s presentation record alone, can only consider issues from one’s own view. In contrast, by discussing with other participants, not only can it provide the speaker opinions and suggestions from audiences’ perspectives, but it also can help the speaker to find out more problems that are not that apparent.
That being said, it can be argued by many individuals that watching presentation records can provide speakers more obviously and specificly visual and auditory details, so that they can generate presentation feedback more effectively from the records. Admittedly, visual and auditory records provide speakers clear materials to generate feedback. However, it is irrational to claim that is more effective than discussing with others. This is because there are many aspects that a presentation record cannot provide to speakers, such as some audiences’ reaction may not be judged due to the limitation of camera range and resolution. Thus, it can be considerably biased to infer audiences’ inner thoughts about the presentation from the record. On the contrary, discussing with other participants and asking their opinions directly is, clearly, more quick and efficient to acquire feedbacks with high accuracy
In conclusion, as discussing with others is helpful for obtaining opinions from audiences’ perspectives, and it is proved to be more effective, it is argued that discussing with other participants and asking opinions from them is clearly a better method.
